Travel Log - Vermont/New Hampshire
.
Vermont/New Hampshire:  May 6

Took the Mohawk Highway across Massachusetts and had the unusual experience of meeting someone who has a WHITE SENO!  Well, pretty doggone close anyway.  Ed and Nancy trailed me into the Johnny Appleseed Rest Stop where I was about to take a picture of a bronze Johnny holding a basketful of apples (I had added a fresh yellow banana to the scupture for color).  We had a real gab fest about what to do with this kind of car and I told them about the Nationals meet in Carlyle, PA in a couple of weeks.  I said that I couldn't make it but they should.

I tootled on down the road and realized that I REALLY, REALLY want to go to that event so maybe the travel gods will bless me and I'll make it.

Now this next part you won't believe.  I know the folks there at the Getaway Mountain Campgrounds had a hard time believing it.  The roadster has a new name, given to him by Stan:  world's smallest RV.  I did the impossible, I camped AND SLEPT in Seno at this very wonderful campgrounds and Ellen, Dave and Jason are my witnesses!  I even got sprinkled on but the cover was dry by morning.  When I get the photos processed and sent, you'll see how I did it.  I was so comfortable that I slept in til 7 am.

Stopped in Claremont, NH and they are making a new set of glasses for me at the Walmart there.  Say what you want about Walmart but they're saving my bacon today--they fixed my clear glasses that fell apart and they're making a back up set for me due tomorrow!

Stopped off at New London's talk radio show and met Arnie who interviewed me a couple of months ago regarding the Red Hat Society.  She has her phone pulled out into the parking lot and sitting on her car!  Why?  Because it's such a nice day, she said.  Cool!  Now there's an Oregonian attitude for you!

Stuart Nudelman, car lover/art lover/photog for the York County Star, provided the excellent photo of Seno at Ogunquit lighthouse.  Charming and gracious Stuart has "retired" into 3 jobs he loves. The shops in Wells, just north of Ogunquit, ME always end up with some of my money.  Tom's the famous Toothpaste, is made just north of here in Kennebunkport.

The Johnny Appleseed Official Rest Stop in Leominster, MA -- here's the little bronze of Johnny who needs to vary his diet . . . Here's Ed Dionne trying Seno out for fit -- Ed is getting a white version ready for touring and needed to see a going-down-the-road car for inspiration.  Ed & Nancy chased us into the Johnny Appleseed Rest Stop.

Ellen and her driveway into Vermont's favorite campground. Stan is living his dream too, he told me.  What used to be a cornfield is now a family business with son Dave, Ellen and Jason all making the campground a convenient & happy place complete with swimming pool (wood heated).

Seno and I camp out -- the first 4-cylinder RV. This is how it's done -- drape a snuggy sleeping bag in the seat, here's the pillow, then cover the entire car with the car cover, anchor with bungees, put Alyce under the cover, install earplugs, and sleep like a dead person until 7 a.m.
