I notice that if you walk into
a store still wearing your helmet (either the flying hat or the hard shell
motorcycle helmet) people look at you like you're wearing that on your
head because you've just escaped from the loony bin and have to wear it
to protect your head from personal injury. If you ever want to pass
as demented, wear a helmet.
I am going to class with Irving
again today. Remember I met him at Oxford so it is no wonder he loves
and lives in class. His brain will never tire and he claims he will
live to be 100 because he takes supplements. I don't doubt it for
one second. I miss his wife Christina and I haven't even left yet--she
and I would be fast chums if she'd only live a little closer.
From the article I promised
you about Vassar: "Lisa (of the Simpsons) says she won't be able
to get into an Ivy League school and adds, 'At this rate, I probably won't
even get into Vassar.' But Homer responds, 'I've had just about enough
of your Vassar-bashing, young lady.'" It was a Vassarite who steals
Sinatra's business and his heart (evidently) in "Robin and the Seven Hoods."
This afternoon I retrieve Seno
from the hands of the Rescue Squad--the 3 guys responsible for tending
to my dream even when I've been thinking lately of a nice plane ride home.
Everybody here seems to be working towards getting me back on the road
for the second half. I have come 4,500 miles and I have 4,500 miles
to go. I thank Bearsa, Carolyn the Fox, Lipstick Liz, Snowman and
Al for the encouraging emails.
